I am the kind of person that can't think of ideas on the spot. But I am the kind of person who can be sitting in bed doing nothing and come up with all these random ideas. So i'm sitting in class trying to think of ideas and it's killing me that I can't think of any. I went on thingiverse to help with the process of finding ideas for this redesign project. I looked around and I found a lot of pen holders. I did more research and I found a holder that looks like Thor's hammer.

I was on Thingiverse one day I found this. I like Thor and his hammer a lot and that's the design I chose.
I started designing the hammer in Inventor. I began by designing the head first. I made all of the measurements and extruded it to make it look like a rectangular prism. I then added fillets on the edges of the head to make it look less like a square. I then added the designs on the sides and started printing.

This is what it looked like when it was done printing. It is now time to start my handle. the first time I designed it, i made it too thin or not proportioned correctly as you can see in the picture below.
So what I did was made the end part the same diameter as the first design, but then made the rest of the handle a thicker diameter. What this did was made the handle more proportional to the head so it looks good.

For this print I got to use the new 3D printer (Which is really cool). It took about an hour so that's the good part. The picture below is the finished product. I think it looks really good. Obviously if I put a lot more time into int and more detail, it would look better. But I do not have al the time in the world to do this.

I learned that redesigning things is not as easy as it looks. It took me a long time to even come up with something to do. More of the time was also spent on designing the project and printing it. All in all, I had fun.
